FBN have just completed a major refurbishment and low carbon retrofit feasibility study on four 10 storey blocks of flats containing 120 units in Dryburgh Gardens for Abertay Housing Association.
The study included 9 basic Scottish Housing Quality Standard assessment (SHQS) of a sample of the dwellings, together with a range of possible improvements to the blocks ranging from new windows and external insulation to a full range of renewable energy options including ground and air source heat pumps, gas CHP, solar thermal and photovoltaics.
Detailed SAP calculations have been carried out on all options to demonstrate their effectiveness and compare the potential reductions in fuel bills to tenants and owner occuppiers alike.
Extensive research and discussions have been carried undertaken with suppliers, energy providers and other funding sources to maximise the projects potential.
