FBN ARCHITECTS was first established in 1987 to draw on the experience of the Partners in the design of social housing.

We have since been engaged by over 50 housing associations and co-operatives, by leading private house builders, local authorities and many other clients, and we have moved into other areas of architectural design, especially in the field of public buildings: some of the practice’s first buildings were small airports in the Highlands and Islands. The practice operates from central Glasgow: our work covers the whole of Central Scotland. Joining Partners Les Brown and John Newman on the Management Team is our Associate, Richard Hands, who brings a great deal of experience of commercial architecture and interior design. He shares responsibilities with the Partners in a number of areas, and is leading an initiative to expand our project base. Although the evidence is that our clients are satisfied with our performance, which is demonstrated through the number of repeat commissions, the Partners have initiated a policy of continuous improvement; in the quality and range of our services. The benefits are clear: a highly skilled and motivated workforce, satisfied clients and greater rewards for all in the practice. Key Practice Criteria • Contract limits: £50,000 to £20m • Quality Assurance: certified as quality assured to BS EN 9001:2000 since 2002. • Investor in People: accredited since 2001 • Affiliation: individually and/or collectively, the practice has membership of the RIBA, RIAS, CIAT, GIA, ARB, Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, Constructionline, NBS and NHBC.
