In a rare opportunity to design the physical focus for an entire community, we won the commission to bring together new offices for Easthall Park Housing Co-operative (a long-term client), and extension to and re-modelling of their existing Hall for the residents’ group, a new ‘civic square’ and a neighbourhood park. The space for this is provided by a little-used football pitch (new pitches have been created nearby). The Co-op’s offices are housed in a striking metal-clad building whose tilted oval shape arose from the section, which steps down a steep slope. Inside, a mezzanine overlooks the large open-plan main office, which has a great view westwards over the new park. The builder was Cruden Building & Renewals Ltd.
