19/ Easthall Park Phases 4 to 9
Residential
Easterhouse, Glasgow
£16m.
1996-2004
Approx. 400 new and improved houses. Phase 4 was an ingenious mix of remodeled existing flats, and new houses and cottage flats, some of them for tenants with special needs. Along with Phase 7 we designed a stand-alone house for severely disabled people coming out of institutional care. Phase 8 included 24 modernised flats with a ‘bolt-on’ energy-saving sunspace – a little like a flatted conservatory – at each living room. The final phase included 50 houses for sale. We designed new offices for the Co-operative, attached to an upgraded Residents’ Hall, next to a new neighbourhood park. Most of the phases were partnered, with Cruden Building & Renewals Ltd. as the builder.
